UDAY (Ujwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana), a
scheme specifically designed for State owned DISCOMs for operational and
financial turnaround was launched vide OM No. 06/02/2015-NEF/FRP, dated 20th November, 2015.
Subsequently, to extend scheme participation
eligibilty to even the State Power Departments & Electricity Boards, an addendum
was issued by Ministry of Power, Govt. of India vide OM No. 06/02/2015-NEF/FRP
(Pt), dated 13th January,
2016 wherein such States could participate in the scheme in terms of “Operational
Efficiency Improvement” by entering into Bipartite MoU.
For Improving the Operational Efficiency,
participating States and Utilities are required to follow the Timeline &
Targetted Activities as oulined & specified in the OM No. 06/02/2015-NEF/FRP,
dated 20th November, 2015
issued by MoP, GoI.
The Out come of Operational Improvements will be
measured through following indicators:
1) Reduction of AT & C Loss to 15% by 2018-19 as per
the finalized Loss Reduction Trajectory
2) Reduction in Gap between Average Cost of Supply
(ACS) and Average Revenue Realized (ARR) to Zero by 2019 as finalized by MoP &
States.
Benefits :-
States accepting UDAY and performing as per operational milestones will be given
additional / priority funding through Deen Dayal Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY),
Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS), Power Sector Development Fund (PSDF)
or other such schemes of Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable
Energy, Govt. of India.
